MOODY — Moody went ahead early and held on late to defeat Ashville 62-55.
Three pointers from Ashville’s Marcellus Brown and Alex Farmer helped the Bulldogs break an early drought against Moody late in the first quarter Monday night in Moody. The Blue Devils led 16-9 headed into the second quarter.
Moody continued to build the lead and held a 32-17 lead at the half.
A Farmer 3-pointer with 2:59 left in the game made the score 52-44, Moody. In the closing minute Ashville made things interesting but were forced to foul Moody, stopping the clock, to try to get back in the game. The Blue Devils made enough free throws and picked up the win.
Ashville’s Farmer led all scorers with 27 points and ten rebounds. Xavier Newton added 12 points.
For Moody, Yates Boykin had 18 points and Chad Slade scored ten with six rebounds.
