C. Dewayne Gosdin

Resident of Leeds

LEEDS — C. DeWayne Gosdin, 41, passed away suddenly after a short illness on Monday, August 16, 2010.  DeWayne was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who will be terribly missed by all.  A 1986 graduate of Pinson Valley High School, DeWayne grew up in Pinson and later resided in Leeds with his loving wife Dana Tamburello Gosdin, and two beautiful children, Bailey and Chloe Gosdin.

In addition to his wife and children, DeWayne is survived by his mother Faye Bradshaw, sister Pam Gosdin Atkins, mother-in-law Cecelia Betbeze, father-in-law Breezy Betbeze, brothers-in-law Benard Tamburello and Brian Atkins; nieces Mandy Hathcock and Raquel Tamburello; nephews Nathan, Blake and Matthew Tamburello and countless wonderful other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father Clovis Gosdin, his brother Larry Gosdin, his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Buford Neal, and his father-in-law Benard Tamburello, Sr.

DeWayne was a proud employee of Lakeshore Foundation for 14 years and held a variety of positions including his current role in information technology.  His most treasured professional experience was serving as Tournament Director of World Challenge, one of the world’s premiere wheelchair tennis competitions. DeWayne was an avid tennis player competing on the local, national, and international levels. He was able to continue his passion for tennis working as the vice president of the Leeds Park and Recreation Board. Along with his wife and others, DeWayne brought the USTA Jump Start tennis program to the children of Leeds.

DeWayne’s proudest memories were those that he shared with his wife and children. He was a father and spouse who never missed sports, school, or family obligations and he cherished each moment with the amazing family he built.

To honor his legacy, the family requests that donations be made to the Bailey and Chloe Gosdin Scholarship Fund that has been established at Regions Bank.  Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of this amazing man on Friday, August 20, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 11 a.m. The family will be receiving friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
