Portion of Hwy. 411 to be closed today
LEEDS —
On Tuesday, July 20, weather conditions permitting, beginning at 8:30 a.m., ALDOT will begin replacing a drainage structure on U.S. 411 (Whitmire Street) at the intersection of Hurst Avenue at the New Leeds Middle School.
This work will require the northbound travel lane and shoulder to be closed in the area where a new larger drainage structure will be installed. After all repairs are made on the northbound direction, the drainage repairs will continue in the southbound direction, on the same segment of U.S. 411 (Whitmire Street) at the intersection of Hurst Avenue.
This work will require intermittent one-lane closures for approximately 2 to 3 days, depending on work progress and weather conditions. Since this segment of U.S. 411 is a two lane roadway, traffic control will be handled by flagmen on each end of the construction zone.
The travel lanes will be reopened no later than 4:30 p.m. each day until the work is completed.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this maintenance operation to improve Alabama's roadways.
