Due to road closings, St. Clair County Superintendent Jenny Seals has decided to close the St. Clair County schools. Pell City Schools and Victory Christian School are still set to open two hours late. The St. Clair Head Start is closed today.

There were numerous weather-related accidents in the northern part of the county last night, though no serious injuries were reported as of this morning.

County Engineer Dan Dahlke said that many roads are closed and barricaded including:

County Rd 21 from Ragland to County Rd 24 to Ashville

Mtn View Rd from Newton Rd to I-59 –Springville

Village Springs Rd in- Springville

County Road 22 from Hwy 411 to Hwy 231 in Friendship

Pleasant Valley off Hwy 22 to Odenville

Lynch Lake Road off Hwy 174

County Road 12 between Hwy 174 & Mtn View Rd Odenville/Springville

Dahlke said that he has trucks working these areas.

Pell City roads and south St. Clair County roads in Moody are in good shape, with a few icy patches.

Ellen Haynes with the St. Clair Emergency Management Agency said that now is the time for area residents who are at home to look out for one another as temperatures drop to the mid-teens going into the weekend.

“If you're home, put on your coat and help each other out; it only takes a moment to walk down the street and check on your neighbors. Also be sure to bring your pets inside and make sure they have fresh water,” Haynes said.
