Performances of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ begin soon at Leeds theatre

The Leeds Arts Council’s production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast will take the stage July 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 31 and August 1 at 7 p.m. and July 19 and 26 at 2 p.m. All tickets are $15 and reservations are recommended. Beauty and the Beast is the story of a beautiful girl, named Belle, who lives with her father – a dotty inventor.

When her father doesn’t return from a trip to a local fair, Belle rushes off to find him. To her dismay, she discovers he is being held captive in an old castle by a horrible beast. She trades her freedom for his and the “tale as old as time” begins. How Belle tames the unfortunate Beast and his transformation into a handsome prince continues to enthrall audiences on Broadway nightly. In an unprecedented move, Disney has allowed Music Theatre International to license stage performances of the show while the show continues to play in New York. Can the Beast be made human again before the last petal falls from the rose?

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast offers a great opportunity to bring the community together for family theatre at its best.
