Leeds Civic Center offering shelter from frigid temperatures

The City of Leeds plans on opening the Civic Center to residents who do not have adequate heat this week. Mayor Eric Patterson announced on Monday that the Civic Center will be open to any residents that need shelter on Wednesday.

Leeds residents should call the city at 699-2585 by 4 p.m. on Wednesday and must check in at the Civic Center by 7 p.m.

Residents should bring their own food, blankets, pillows and sleeping bags. Officials said they have a few cots available, but that they would look into acquiring more from the American Red Cross or the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency if needed.
